Time for a Change!

The majority of my friends are either A)Pregnant or B) losing weight. I have decided to jump on the "bandwagon" and follow suit. But don't worry, I'm not pregnant! Everyone remembers when they were "high school skinny," and wish for that body to reappear. I don't want that exact body to emerge again, just part of that body. I, being a Math-Geek, calculated how many calories I burned a day back in high school. (It was about 3,000 daily. Give or take how hard Leigh-Ann worked us, and if it was a company year or not..)

I realized a while back that I needed a "change." A change in the way I was eating, exercising (or the lack thereof). I have never been one for "diet pills" or "magic diets" because I think that if you really want to "diet" you are actually telling yourself "I need a change of life" (to quote Debbie). I enjoy shopping, A LOT, however I have not felt like going much lately because of how much weight I have gained. Don't get me wrong, I am not doing this mainly so I can go shopping.

I am doing this because:
1) I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. (Read that out loud if you it doesn't make sense).
2) I want to be able to play with my grandkids whenl I am 80 years old. (Whenever, we have kids).
3) I want to set a goal and feel like I accomplished it.
4) I don't want to lean on fast food places or microwave meals. I want to learn more about the nutritional value of healthy food.

So, that is what I am doing. I am trying to go all nat-ur-al on this change of lifestyle.

Here is how I am going to do it:
1) Counting (yes, counting) the number of calories I intake, and the amount of calories I burn off. I have done research on this and there are positives and negatives. However, I have decided that this is a plan that I can control. If I choose to do the "Atkins" diet, I have a strict guideline that I must follow. I would probably just stop it and go back to my old ways. Counting calories may seem like a pain to others, however, I feel that it is the best plan for me. I have an application for my iphone that helps me keep track of my caloric intake and my caloric burn.

2) Exercise Exercise Exercise. I am not able to lift weights like I use to in high school due to my abdominal surgery. I am, though, able to exercise and do cardio. I like the rush of being active and going-going-going. Daniel is helping me by pushing me to the limit. We play racquetball (his new favorite sport), and walk-jog-run together whenever he is in town.

3) Wii Fit. Probably one of the less responible investments in our future! However, my brother bought one, and I have heard nothing but good things about it. On the Wii Fit, it does body assetments, and has different aerobic activities for you to do. What I like the most about it is: If you are doing aerobics, it tells you what you are doing wrong, what you need to improve on, and allows you to watch TV while still exercising. The last one is great, because I can watch Hell's Kitchen, HGTV, The Office, or any show and not feel like such a couch potato.

4) Family and Friends. They are my biggest motivation. People slip from their "change of life", but I hope that I will have that support to slap me around and say, "No, Angel...No Ma'am! Bad!" :D

This is by no means a way of getting sympathy from people, but more of me encouraging you to evaluate your life, and change it, if you feel you need a change. No one can urge you to change your eating habits or exercise habits, only you.

"Only You can Prevent your Own Obseity" (In my best Smokey The Bear impression!) :D
