Peace and Quite

Welcome back! November for us has been, let's face it, a very boring month! :D Nothing too exciting happening.

Daniel has finished his second semester of Graduate School! We are so excited! That is one step closer to being completely out of school! YAY!

Daniel went to St. Louis with his dad for a tournament and he came home with the "Most Cans donated award" Congrats! The tournament fee was one can of food to give to the local shelters. So this is a BIG Honor!

Daniel's medical condition seems to be improving, and we are so thankful for that.

We had the first of many, many holiday meals this month starting with the Ashby Family Thanksgiving! I made mashed potatoes for the first time EVER! And I don't mean like powered, out of the box mashed potatoes. REAL POTATOES! They were amazing! I know this because I did not bring any home!

Daniel and I took a trip to St. Louis to visit the Paulus Family for Thanksgiving! We had such a great time visiting with them. We enjoyed seeing Linda's Father, whom we haven't seen since the wedding. (Well, at least I haven't, Daniel has!). Sweetest man you will probably ever meet!

While we were in St. Louis, we stayed with a childhood friend of mine and her husband. We went out to eat and caught up on life, and laughed.... A LOT! Sheena is a HUGE scrap booker, and I learned some pretty cool things from her. So I will be trying some of those things out!

After getting back from St. Louis, we started to get our Christmas stuff out! AMAZING! Even though we put the tree up in November, we will post pictures on the December post!

For the most part, November has been an extremely boring month! Which is nice for a change!

And if anyone is wondering..... I DID NOT GO OUT ON BLACK FRIDAY!

Oh Snap... Almost forgot: Alabama beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Until next time,

Daniel and Angel

"Life"

Welcome back to internet reality. :D This has been a very busy time for us.

Angel has started her job at JHDC, and she loves it! The best part of her job is working with the residents! :D

Daniel is still working on his school work among all of the medical speed bumps. He took mid-terms last week, so we haven't heard about his grades just yet.

The Holiday's are among us. This is my favorite time of the year! Halloween is Daniel's favorite time of year, and to prepare for it, we decorated our house with a spiderweb made out of Christmas lights, and a spider (given to us by my mom) attached to it. It looks awesome! We then we to Pumpkin Hollow, (which is like Tate Farm in Hazel Green), with some great friends from church. They have the cutest kids! We are looking forward to spending time with family and friends over the next few months during the Holiday's!

FOOTBALL HAS ARRIVED! RTR and WHOOE SOOIE PIGG (or something like that) :) At the time of this blog, Alabama is number 2, and looking pretty good. Arkansas is looking good too! I say that next year they will be a team to keep your eye on!

Speed Bump of life #433-732

We last blogged about Daniel's accident, and his blacking-out spells. Well, since that time he has been having seizures. The EEG that we spoke about earlier came back abnormal, and that lead us to an appointment with the neurologist, another EEG, a MRI, a Video/24 hour-EEG in Little Rock, and many, many, many seizures later. We had an appointment with the doctor today, Daniel and I are going to get a second opinion about his seizures, and his blacking-out spells. Daniel is staying at home and doing his school work until we can get his seizures under control and find out what the problem is. And just so you know, I am driving everywhere we go. I won't let Daniel drive, for his safety and the rest of NEA.

So here we are, living one day at a time. The best that we can. We ask for your prayers. Thank you all so much for the prayers, and cards of concern. We know that we are truly blessed!

In Him alone we can do ALL things,
Daniel and Angel

Goodbye August!

~Goodye August! We will miss you~~

I think that everytime we blog, we always say, "A lot has changed." Well, a lot has changed this month!

Daniel recieved his final grades from the summer term. After his first semester of Graduate school he has a 3.0 GPA! We are all very proud. The fall semester just started for Daniel, so he has set the bar high for maintaining the GPA. You can do it!

Angel went for a job interview at the Jonesboro Human Development Center. She did not get the job she interviewed for; however, she did recieve a part-time position at the same location. The job will begin September 8th.

Angel's friend, Tina, married her sweetheart Len! Congrats to the two of you!

Daniel's cousin, Christa, had her baby. The Newberry Family welcomed Carlie Jean! Congrats! She is a cutie!

Angel's nephew, Andrew, turned the BIG 7 this month! Daniel and Angel were not able to attend his party, however, he told us that he had a Star Wars party! They are growing up so big!

We also blogged earlier in the month about changing our way of life, and starting to exercise and become more healthy. We did very well for about three weeks, then a "hold" was placed on our exercising. Other than that we are doing exceptionally well!

Speed Bump #432 of Life

Throughout life there are Speed Bumps that we come face to face with. Daniel was involved in a car accident on his way to Henderson, Tennessee. The car is totaled, and I will post pictures of it later this week. Daniel is alive, and that is the important part. Following his accident he was showing symptoms of dizziness, nausea, vomitting, light-headed-ness, and loss of breathing during the night. So, it is now been a week after his accident, which includes, three ER visits, a passing out spell during church, very little sleep, and lots of tears. Daniel has shown a lot of improvement today, which is an amazing thing given this past week. Everyone will be happy to know that they did a CT of the head and neck, and he DOES HAVE A BRAIN. :D He is scheduled on Tuesday of this week for an EEG. I kid around with him telling him that now since the brain was found, we have to find out if it functions. :D We are in great spirits now, since he is getting better. Man was this past week difficult and stressful.

We know that many prayers were said on our behalf this past week, and we thank you so very much! We know that the power of prayer works, and we are so thankful to have amazing friends and family! We will keep you posted on his test.

Thank you for everyone who has supported us throughout our journey! We love you all!

In Him,

Daniel and Angel

Time for a Change!

The majority of my friends are either A)Pregnant or B) losing weight. I have decided to jump on the "bandwagon" and follow suit. But don't worry, I'm not pregnant! Everyone remembers when they were "high school skinny," and wish for that body to reappear. I don't want that exact body to emerge again, just part of that body. I, being a Math-Geek, calculated how many calories I burned a day back in high school. (It was about 3,000 daily. Give or take how hard Leigh-Ann worked us, and if it was a company year or not..)

I realized a while back that I needed a "change." A change in the way I was eating, exercising (or the lack thereof). I have never been one for "diet pills" or "magic diets" because I think that if you really want to "diet" you are actually telling yourself "I need a change of life" (to quote Debbie). I enjoy shopping, A LOT, however I have not felt like going much lately because of how much weight I have gained. Don't get me wrong, I am not doing this mainly so I can go shopping.

I am doing this because:
1) I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. (Read that out loud if you it doesn't make sense).
2) I want to be able to play with my grandkids whenl I am 80 years old. (Whenever, we have kids).
3) I want to set a goal and feel like I accomplished it.
4) I don't want to lean on fast food places or microwave meals. I want to learn more about the nutritional value of healthy food.

So, that is what I am doing. I am trying to go all nat-ur-al on this change of lifestyle.

Here is how I am going to do it:
1) Counting (yes, counting) the number of calories I intake, and the amount of calories I burn off. I have done research on this and there are positives and negatives. However, I have decided that this is a plan that I can control. If I choose to do the "Atkins" diet, I have a strict guideline that I must follow. I would probably just stop it and go back to my old ways. Counting calories may seem like a pain to others, however, I feel that it is the best plan for me. I have an application for my iphone that helps me keep track of my caloric intake and my caloric burn.

2) Exercise Exercise Exercise. I am not able to lift weights like I use to in high school due to my abdominal surgery. I am, though, able to exercise and do cardio. I like the rush of being active and going-going-going. Daniel is helping me by pushing me to the limit. We play racquetball (his new favorite sport), and walk-jog-run together whenever he is in town.

3) Wii Fit. Probably one of the less responible investments in our future! However, my brother bought one, and I have heard nothing but good things about it. On the Wii Fit, it does body assetments, and has different aerobic activities for you to do. What I like the most about it is: If you are doing aerobics, it tells you what you are doing wrong, what you need to improve on, and allows you to watch TV while still exercising. The last one is great, because I can watch Hell's Kitchen, HGTV, The Office, or any show and not feel like such a couch potato.

4) Family and Friends. They are my biggest motivation. People slip from their "change of life", but I hope that I will have that support to slap me around and say, "No, Angel...No Ma'am! Bad!" :D

This is by no means a way of getting sympathy from people, but more of me encouraging you to evaluate your life, and change it, if you feel you need a change. No one can urge you to change your eating habits or exercise habits, only you.

"Only You can Prevent your Own Obseity" (In my best Smokey The Bear impression!) :D

Oh Say Can You.... WHAT?!

Welcome back!

Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy-Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy
So, I found out that my good friend Tina is getting married. She has decided to have two ceremonies, and to my luck, the first one is going to be Saturday August 8th, in Huntsville! I cannot be more happier for her!

Since the last time we blogged, my in-laws have moved into a new home. We are so excited for them! We helped them pack and moved, and I believe they are pretty much settled in. I don't think one can ever be "fully settled in", but I think they are extremely close! Congrats!

One of my best friends, Faith, just found out that she is going to have baby #2! YAY! Her first child is a finalist in Parents.com Baby Competition. So the love-joy-happy is free-flowing in their home! Congrats guys!

Daniel's Graduate school for the summer is almost finished. Last summer term he took Leadership, and this term he is taking Life of Paul. This week is the final week of Life of Paul, and he is very very busy. His stress level is high, but you couldn't tell it just by looking at him! Wish him luck!

I blogged last month that I was on some new meds, and they were just making me worse, so I stopped taking it. Let me tell you I feel 100% better, minus food poisoning! hehe... No More Fast Food-Fast Food for me!

I am still jobless-Sad Day. However, I am hoping and praying that things look up! I have an interview August 3rd with the State of Arkansas. I should know something by the end of the week.

My grandmother passed away on my birthday and it has been rather difficult. But I know she is in a better place. Since she is the last of my dad's parents, her items had to be separated and given to her children. What I do not understand is that when someone passes away there is such a fuss over "who gets what". There has been a lot of controversies in many families, and that is why I am a BIG believer in drawing up a will. The items that are left over when a person passes away are still considered "their" belongings, therefore, everyone should respect the will if they leave something to another person. If you don't get what you "want" don't complain! You never know, what you were "left" or "given" may have been worth much more than the items given to other people!

I love the book of Proverbs! It is just short quotes that can be apply to anyone, in any situation. I love it! So, I have decided to change my Facebook status once-twice daily with verses from the book of Proverbs. If you do not have Facebook, sign up and look for us! If you do have it and are not friends, search for us!

TV-TV-TV

Daniel and I try not to watch a lot of TV, just because we have so much reading to do for school. But when we do watch TV, we have our FAVS! Hell's Kitchen, Design Star, and Shark Week have all started up again! I am lucky because they are on different nights!

I hope each day makes you Smile larger and laugh harder than yesterday!

Correction...

Correction to the last blog....

I missed a birthday... Jessica, Daniel's step-sister! That's what happens when the month of June decides to turn your life around like a tornado! Sorry Jessica!

~A

6/25/09

Welcome June!

As we bid farwell to June in a week, we look back on the things you have brought to us these past couple of weeks.

1) Much needed Rest. As Daniel and I got off of the honeymoon, I came down with a "the sickness" (to quote a song!). I was out of commission (what commission I am not sure) for two weeks. Just to find out I have an abnormal Thyroid. YAY FOR MORE MEDICINE! NOT! I am doing much much better now.

2) Birthday Birthday Birthday! We were blessed to celebrate many birthday's this month: My Grandmother, Mom, Dad, Mom and Dad's Anniversary, Daniel, Rick, Monica, Uncle Mike C, Andy, Andy's twins, and mine. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THE JUNE BABIES!

3)Many Deaths. On a sadder note, there has been many deaths this month.

My dad's cousin past away on Father's Day. He had been battling cancer for some time now. I am happy that is in a place of no pain!

On the very next day, my birthday, my dad's mom, my grandmother, past away. She was 85 years old! It was a shock to all of us. She had been declining for a while, but we were not expecting her to leave us this soon. Daniel and I were suppose to visit her the day that she died. I miss her so much, but I am glad she is in a better place.

Ed McMahon will always be the Star Search man to me! I was reading an article about him saying that is known as, "The Greatest Sidekick."

Farrah Fawcett passes away after a long battle with cancer. I have seen many people battle Colon/Anal Cancer over the past few years, and let me tell you it is a battle and a half. If Colon Cancer is caught at the early stages, a patient can walk away from it! Please research the signs of Colon Cancer, and get yourself checked! It's not the best thing in the world to do, but IT SAVES LIVES!

Michael Jackson, a.k.a. The King of Pop, passes away today suddenly! I use to take dance growing up, and it never failed that we would do a dance to one of his songs! No matter what he did in his personal life, he was an amazing performer! I grew up listening to his music!

4) Good Grades Daniel took his first test of Graduate school and recieved an "A" Congrats to Daniel.

5) Softball to Face. My brother Jeff was playing a softball game, and got hit in the face with a softball. He broke his cheeck bone. So we had to go to the ER and of course we cracked jokes while we were waiting. Here are the ones we came up with: "Jeff wanted to be half Chinese" "Jeff became an air head when he blew his nose and half of his face swelled up" "The lady at the ER window asks, "Can I help you?" Jeff replies, "Yea, half of my face shrunk." "Come on Popeye." "Stop winking at me." "You can't play tag with a softball and expect to walk away with nothing." "You are suppose to use your glove, not your face." "Halloween is still 4 months away Jeff, you can't be blowfish just yet!"

6) Misc Non-Sense. I bought some Yellow Box Flip Flops! THEY ARE SOO COMFORTABLE! We have driven the Jeep Liberty for 2,000 miles this month alone! I think that we are going to invest in Fram Stock. My dentist appointment was recheduled twice in one week! How crazy right.

So, June, we love you so much! Thanks for the many memories...... I think.

Wedding Bliss is over, Reality sits in!!!

So Daniel and I are officially married! We are both very excited! But just so everyone knows the "new" has almost worn off. lol. Daniel and I were sitting here tonight and he said, "I love the way you say 'I love you'" Then I proceeded to burp (mind you I had just taken a big gulp of Coke), and he said, "That killed the mood!" No but seriously, Daniel and I cannot be even more happy! I know what you are thinking, "Barf" but really we really are happy!

We are happy that the wedding plans and the wedding are overwith! It was amazing! There was so much planning that went into the most perfect day our our lives. And that is what it turned out to be! Thank you to everyone that helped with the wedding plans and the wedding. Daniel and I appreciate it very much.

Daniel and I have chosen not to put our wedding pictures online for numerous reasons, however, if you would like to see our pictures just let us know. I am working on a scrapbook of the wedding, and as soon as it is finished everyone who wants to see it is more than welcomed to!

Daniel and I went to Williamsburg, VA and Washington D.C. for our honeymoon. That was an experience! We went to the historic places and even got to tour a battleship! That was awesome!

Back to reality! Daniel and I have a home in Paragould, Arkansas. It is a nice 2 bedroom, 1 bath home that we are renting. It may seem small, but let me tell you it is HUGE! Especially for the two of us! If you are in the area and would like to stop by or even come and stay with us, just let us know! Daniel started graduate school this past Monday, and he has found out that it is not easy! But that is not slowing him down! He has been reading and studying non-stop. What about me you may ask, well Angel has been sitting here doing nothing. Lol. I am on the job hunt this week, hoping to find a job and SOON! Oh well. Classes for me start up again next month.

So I think you are pretty much caught up on everything. So let's talk about the present and future! lol.

The month of June is amazing! There are so many birthday's in the month of June, and if you know me, you know that family is a very important part of my life. Birthdays are another reason to gather together with family (like we actually need a reason right?).

Well I think that is all for tonight! Take care!

In Him,

Daniel and Angel

....Things....

There has been a lot of, let's face it, "childish actions" and "childish language" that has been said over the past few months. And what I cannot comprehend is, how come when a person is being irrational or saying something that should not be said, they become so angry to the point that they will literally "disown" family members when they are called out on their actions. I need to state at this point, that this blog is not directed to anyone in particular, it is just an observation I have seen my ENTIRE life. Family will always be there for you, so they should stick together always! No matter what is said or done. We should forget what has been said and move on.

I know that I am only 23 years of age and I have a lot of learning to do about life. But what I do know is that I am 23 years of age and not 16. This means that my actions and words should be that of a 23 year old and not a teenager, and more importantly, a Christian. I recently changed my friend list on facebook for many many reasons. The first was because I was spending too much time on Facebook, and not on my spiritual life. I got so wrapped up in this recent "drama”, which I lost sight of what I am supposed to be doing. The second reason I changed the friend list, is because I realized that I only accepted them to see what they were doing in their life. Facebook in my opinion has become a way to contact friends and family in a quicker way. So, when I was going through my list I removed those that I haven't talked to in a long time. I figured that if they were truly interested in what was going on in my life, they would contact me. I know this sounds bad on so many levels, but life is not about Facebook, Twitter, Blogging (ironic I know right?), Myspace or any other form of electronic device. I find it quite comical that people will use these internet forms of communication for dissing people. Dissing people through others profiles. Life is about learning about God's love and living to His will. Life is not like a sentence that you read once and say, "I GET IT!” it is more like a poem that you can read over and over again and die not knowing the real meaning of the poem. You may never know the real meaning of the poem, but you know more about the poem when you die than when you started reading the poem. Just like God's Word. We will never know everything there is to know about His Word, but when we die and meet him we will know more than we did when we started.

Family is very important to me, and it has crushed my heart to know that there are people out there that would disown their own flesh and blood. I have had my share of heartaches through the years. I was taken away from my family when I was 18 months old and I was adopted at the age of 4. Even though I consider myself very lucky because I have always known my biological family, we have had our share of hard times and rough patches. There has been many punches thrown, words tossed about and even periods of long silence; but we overcame that and are much better now. We realize that we are not going to always see eye to eye on things, but what we have realized is that we have to understand where the other person is coming from. Understand is a big word, but once a person grasps the concept of this word, issues and disagreements can be resolved in a quick manner.

So I apologize for my actions and words that may have rubbed someone the wrong way. But what I do not apologize is for pointing out someone’s words and actions that have damaged others’ self-esteem. I am a big person about change, and how people can change. So I feel that if someone is doing something that is hurting other people or even hurting yourself, that person should be made aware of it. That person then has the chance to change, because he or she may not know they are hurting people. If you are the person who is getting told that your actions and words are being hurtful, do not over react to the point you make a fool out of yourself. The person telling you cares enough about you to inform you of the harsh words. I know it hurts, but your words have hurt other people.

This is a long road of life of which I have fallen off so many times before now. But I have never EVER given up! Neither should you.

So my ranting is over… for now. Life is too short to be anything but happy. So Laugh, Smile, and BE THANKFUL for the time we are given! We are not deserving of this time! Thank you God! You are grateful and merciful!

10-Step Program to Better Grammar.

People have pet-peeves, and trust me I have plenty of them. However, my number one pet-peeve would be GRAMMAR! I cannot stand when someone uses bad grammar! So with the help of ehow.com, I have comprised a 10-step program to better grammar!

Step 1
Read as much as you can, and not the stuff you usually read. Go to the bookstore or library and pick out books or magazines that you normally wouldn't choose. Pick volumes that use language differently from your usual pleasure reading. So, if your usual fare is Redbook Magazine or Mademoiselle, pick out The Atlantic Monthly or The New Yorker. If you normally read USA Today, try the Wall Street Journal or the Christian Science Monitor. Read with an eye for studying sentence construction, otherwise known as syntax.

Step 2
Visit grammar websites online. There are a number of websites for this. A great one listed in the Resources section is The Slot, which was put together by a copy editor. This does not focus exclusively on grammar but broadly on English usage. Search the Web for sites where you can quiz yourself on your grammar skills online.

Step 3
Keep a book on English grammar in places where you may read for a few minutes--in your reading-during-your-commute reading pile, on a coffee table, even in the bathroom. Grammar books are best looked at in small bits, as reading one for long might put you to sleep. (Speaking of which, keep a grammar book on the bedside table.)

Step 4
Write a document trying out some new grammatical techniques. Then ask somebody you know who is a grammar expert to look at it and correct it for errors or questionable sections.

Step 5
Make a plan. Try to get an overview of English grammar from a text book or online resource. Note the grammar points you need to work on and plan to work on each for at least a few day.

Step 6
Identify common mistakes. People who speak the same language often make the same mistakes in English grammar. For example, many Russian speakers have trouble using "a" and "the" in English. Find out what grammar points are often difficult for speakers of your native language. Pay extra attention to learning those grammar points.

Step 7
Find some grammar exercises. To learn English grammar well, you'll need to practice each grammar point until you can use it easily. Look for a book of grammar exercises that also has answers. Online activities and quizzes can also help. Focus on just one grammar point each time you study.

Step 8
Pay close attention to grammar when you read English. When you're trying to learn correct English grammar, it's not enough to understand general idea of what you read. You'll need to understand exactly why each sentence is written that way. When you read a sentence, ask yourself if can make similar sentences. If you can't or you're not sure, find text book exercises for those grammar points and practice.

Step 9
Translate from your native language into English. When you write or speak your own thoughts, it's easy to avoid complicated grammar. When you translate, you have to work with whatever is on the page, even if the grammar is difficult. Start translating simple things like advertisments and then move to newpapers and magazine articles. Translating dialog in plays is another good way to practice.

Step 10
Ask native speakers for advice. If you know any native English speakers, ask if they could check some of your writing now and then. If there are no native English speakers near you, look online for language learning forums or language exchange sites. Just remember if the native speaker is not a teacher, he or she may not be able to explain grammar rules.

~~A Thought~~

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain. But He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Short Story

So the wedding is just a few weeks away, and believe it or not things are actually coming together! Daniel and I are so excited! I think that Daniel and I are more excited for the honeymoon than the actual wedding! We are staying in Williamsburg, Virginia, and will be going to Washington D.C. on Memorial Day. I have never been to D.C. before and that is one of the places I HAVE to go to before I die. Daniel on the other hand has been, so he will be "active tour guide" for that trip! I have a set of grandparents that live right outside of Williamsburg, so Daniel and I are going to spend a day or two with them. They are my biological grandparents, so I didn't grow up knowing who they were. So this is going to be a real special trip for all of us!

In Him

Angel

4/23/09

~~Take a breath, and smile~~

As the days become shorter until the wedding, the stress level still rises like the sun.

As many of you know, Daniel had been trying to get a position at a local congregation in Arkansas. We found out Monday of this week that he had not been chosen for that church. It was heart breaking at first, but we realize that God is in control. He knows what is best for us, and he has our best interest at heart. Though through life we may not agree with the decisions that are made, but we have to understand that this is not our time! Patience! Something the two of us lack! lol. But we are keeping our heads up high and moving forward. There is hope for tomorrow if we can look past today.

We also have grown up a lot this week, and we realize that there are those who come in and out of your life. Enter in when your life is amazing, and leave when it begins to turn for the worst, but there are those (few) who enter into your life when it is amazing, and helps your through those rough patches. We have some of the most amazing parents, and friends who help us through these times.

Until Another Moment,

Huntsville BBQ

Gracie was ready for the BBQ to begin!
This is the back yard at my Aunt's Farm.

Just relaxing on the back porch!

We did a scavenger hunt for the kids.

Rick and Linda both enjoyed the relaxation of the farm!

While the kids were doing the CrAzY 3-legged Race,
a group of the adults did a walk around the farm!

I work for 5 amazing surgeons, two of which showed up!

This is the beginning of the CrAzY 3-legged race.

I love my Aunt's house!
All of the CupCakes we made!

Can you die of laughter?

Ok, so as the days get closer to the wedding, the stress level becomes higher and higher! However, no matter how high the stress level gets, Daniel and I find a way to look at each and "Die of laughter". It is amazing!

We have a BBQ coming up this weekend in Taft (Huntsville area), and we are really excited!

Please keep us in your prayers as we move into the last few weeks before the wedding.

Daniel and Angel

My Gift to Daniel!

My other gift to Daniel!

Daniel's dad, Rick and Aunt Imogene!

Have I said that the kids were playing
tag during the ENTIRE BBQ?

"Sorry Rick, You can't eat just yet."

I had to bring in reinforcement to
guard the food before the BBQ!
